Stunning Antique French Carved Ivory & Sterling Silver Writing Set - Paris C.1880

Description

An exquisite boxed writing set in sterling silver (all pieces with tiny French hallmarks, hard to see, however I am sure this is sterling & silver gilt rather than gold) with beautifully carved Ivory handles, all undamaged without cracks or chips.

The set, comprising of a dip pen, letter opener / paper knife and seal, all sit in their original presentation box with lidded nip compartments and a silk lined lid. The lid is gold printed with the retailer's label: Maison Alph. Giroux, Boulevart des Capucines, Papeterie Objets d'Art, Paris.

The outside of the box is even in superb condition with two impressed initials to the top of the domed lid, U.L.

A superb set, in near mint condition, the box measuring 9 1/2" x 3"; the pen measuring 7 3/4", the paper knife measuring 8 3/4" and the seal measuring 3 1/4".
