London 1898 Solid Silver and Tortoiseshell Dressing Table Hand Mirror by Famous Maker William Comyns.

Description

Wonderful large London 1898 solid silver and tortoiseshell generous full sized dressing table hand mirror with beautiful and elaborately inlaid silver pique design to centre and stem, including musical trophies and harebells. The mirror glass is original and bevelled.

Made by superior maker William Comyns, and is part of larger dressing table set. Other pieces are available to be sold separately. William Comyns is a very famous and high quality maker of such items.

With wonderful silver trim, the tortoiseshell is a lovely colour and has a great patina, and unlike most, the tortoiseshell continues on the reverse side.

This would have been quite an expensive piece when first made.

Size-11 1/8 inches long by 4.5 inches wide.

Weight-336 grams for shipping.

In very good condition overall with just one light scratch to the tortoiseshell, and rubbed hallmarks.

A present for the dressing table for that special person in your life!
