Sheffield 1928 Solid Silver Salver Made by William Hutton and Sons, Famous Makers.

1900 - 1920
Description

Sheffield 1928 English hallmarked solid silver salver with lovely shaped edge, and standing on unusual scroll and acanthus leaf cast feet.

Made by William Hutton and Sons, very good makers.

There is a wonderful crest in the centre with a latin motto around its border, "Miseris Succurrere Disco," translating to I learn to succour the distressed or the unfortunate. Inside the border, there is a beautiful crest with three serpents over three curved and notched swords.

Size-6 3/8 inches diameter.

Weight-215 grams.

With a couple of small taps and the usual surface scratching, this is in good condition overall, and priced accordingly.

Very good gauge of silver, and very clear hallmarks.

A very pretty salver to use for display, to hold a decanter or drinks glass, or to use on a desk or dressing table.

Declaration

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
