Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1900s.
Made from English sterling silver, it stands on four charming legs.
The makers initials are also present, H M for the well renowned silversmith, Henry Matthews.

The top has a decorative raised continuous Acanthus leaf border, inset with a tablet of period Tortoiseshell, intricately inlaid with the prettiest silver pique decoration.
The interior is lined with a cream coloured velvet. The underside of the box is engraved with the retailer who would have originally sold this box, a Scottish retailer, " Edward & Sons, Glasgow ".
Excellent condition, the lid measures 2 7/8" x 1" x 1 1/8" tall. A little gem!
