Birmingham 1890 Solid Silver Double Ended Scent Bottle/vinaigrette Case.

19th century
Description

Birmingham 1890 English hallmarked solid silver double ended scent bottle/vinaigrette, with all over chased design of flowers and foliage, and including a lovely bird amongst the foliage.

The maker's mark is rubbed.

This heavy example is lovely for a collection or display.

The two hinged ends open to reveal a scent bottle on one end (with no inner glass stopper, but could be made to size by glass restoration company), and a vinaigrette on the other end. The internal vinaigrette cover is missing but could be fashioned by a silversmith if desired.

The exterior is in wonderful condition, and the hinged ends snap closed beautifully. The internal caps retain the original gilding.

Size-3 3/8 inches long by 7/8 inches wide, or 1" wide including hinge width.

Weight-heavy at 70 grams.

A lovely and still useful double ended silver scent bottle for display or restoration.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
