Striking Chester 1909 Solid Silver Card Case with Chain and Finger Ring.

1900 - 1920
Description

Purchased as part of a private card case collection, a lovely and unusual Chester 1909 English hallmarked solid silver chased and engraved card case with chain and finger ring, having a bright cut scroll decoration, as well as raised scrolls on all sides including the reverse, standing proud of the main design.

It was made by Smith and Bartlam, and is a nice Edwardian example.

This lovely hinged top case will hold business cards, calling cards, and credit cards. It is a fine piece for a collection of novelty silver, the collector of Chester silver, or would make a great gift for an important occasion.

Weight-heavy at 75 grams.

Size-3.75 inches long by 2 5/8 inches wide, or 6.75 inches long with chain extended.

The Chester assay office closed in 1962, and therefore Chester silver is highly collectable.

This is a seldom found form in a card case, and heavier than most.

In very good condition.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
