Description

This exquisite silver and guilloche enamel butterfly brooch is beautifully decorated. It is a medium-sized example measuring 3.5 cm across the top wing span. The body in complementary hues of powder blue and lime green enamel. The body of the butterfly black. The back with a "C" catch and stamped with makers mark ‘CT & S’ and ‘STERLING SILVER’. A superb butterfly brooch in wonderful condition.

This Edwardian sterling silver butterfly brooch dates from circa 1910 and measures 3.5 cm across the top wing span. The wings display a pale powder blue guilloche enamel patterned with delicate veining and small concentric circles, accented by touches of lime green along the edges. The narrow central body is finished in black enamel, complemented by curved wire antennae and silver framing around the outer edges. The reverse is fitted with a traditional safety catch and bears the maker mark \u2018CT & S\u2019 alongside an impressed \u2018STERLING SILVER\u2019 stamp. Today, this piece functions as a decorative accessory to fasten onto lapels, scarves or collars for daily wear or evening outfits, easily pinning onto fabrics while adding a subtle splash of period colour to an ensemble.
