19th Century Meissen Hand Painted Cabinet Plate

19th century Meissen porcelain cabinet plate. Finely hand painted to the centre with a dramatic classical scene depicting a man and woman in a chamber, with two large entwined serpents in the foreground.

The scene is surrounded by an richly gilded border with scrolling foliage and six small painted reserves depicting winged putti.

Blue crossed-swords mark to the reverse, with two horizontal cancellation lines through the mark perhaps indicating a factory lower-quality classification.

Width 23 cm.

Offered in good condition. Some little scratches to the painted decoration. Some rubbing to gilding and very very minor nick to gilded border. The mark to the reverse border is paint rather than a chip. No cracks or restoration
