FAQs

A Davenport desk is a compact writing desk featuring a sloped writing surface supported by a cabinet structure, often housing side drawers and top stationery compartments.

Sheraton Revival Davenport desks from the late nineteenth century commonly feature fine timber veneers such as rosewood or mahogany, intricate floral and urn marquetry, and inset leather writing surfaces.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-cut dovetail drawer joints, detailed wood inlay work inspired by late eighteenth-century Neoclassical motifs, and period brass fitments.

Due to its compact footprint, a Davenport desk functions well in a hallway alcove, study, or living room nook, serving as a functional workspace or accent piece.

Keep the wood hydrated using natural beeswax polish applied along the grain, and clean the leather surface with a soft, dry cloth while avoiding direct sunlight and moisture.
