An Edwardian sterling silver triple cigar case originates from Birmingham, created in 1911 by Joseph Gloster Limited. The exterior displays detailed engraved foliate scrollwork accompanied by acanthus leaves, three rounded channels, and a vacant central cartouche. Additional visible elements comprise a push-button catch along the side, smooth polished end terminals, and an internal bright-gilt finish. Measuring 13 cm x 6.5 cm x 2 cm with a weight of 121.8 grams, the piece functions as a decorative accessory for an office desk, a gentleman's library, or a living room display table. It suits a collector of Edwardian silver or a practical holder for cigars.

An antique silver cigar case is a pocket-sized container manufactured from sterling silver or silver gilt, specifically designed to protect cigars during transport. Popular throughout the 19th and early 20th centuries, these cases featured shaped channels to prevent crushed cigars and often included intricate engraving or monograms.

Edwardian cigar cases were predominantly constructed from solid sterling silver, often featuring gold-gilt linings to prevent silver oxidisation from coming into contact with the tobacco. The exteriors were frequently decorated using technique such as hand engraving, engine turning, or repousse work.

Authentic British sterling silver cigar cases carry a set of official hallmarks stamped into the metal. These hallmarks typically include a makers mark, a town mark (such as an anchor for Birmingham), a lion passant denoting 925 sterling purity, and a date letter corresponding to the exact year of manufacture.

In modern interiors, antique silver cigar cases function as sophisticated desktop accoutrements, tray accessories, or cabinet curiosities. Placing a silver case on an office desk, coffee table tray, or bookshelf adds a tactile element of historical metallic detail.

Sterling silver cases should be dusted regularly with a soft lint-free cloth and polished gently using a silver polishing cloth or specialized non-abrasive cream. Avoid immersing pieces with spring hinges or catches in water, and store them in low-humidity environments to minimize tarnish.
