This small-sized antique carpet originates from North West Persia around 1900 in the Persian Heriz style. Hand-knotted from wool and cotton, the piece displays a distinct colour palette of terracotta red, navy blue and cream, highlighted by a triple geometric central medallion design, intricate tribal patterns, stylised palmettes, a step-bracket border and a hand-knotted fringe. Visual inspection reveals light age-related wear, fringed ends and traditional symmetrical knotting. Measuring 144 cm by 187 cm, this rug sits comfortably in rooms such as a study, bedroom or hallway to add texture and traditional warmth underfoot. The piece suits country house settings, pairing well with natural wood furniture and neutral interior schemes.

Originating from the Heriz region in Northwestern Iran, these carpets are celebrated for their distinctive geometric interpretations of traditional Persian motifs and durable hand-knotted construction.

Heriz carpets feature a dense wool pile hand-knotted onto a durable cotton warp and weft foundation, coloured using traditional natural vegetable dye techniques.

Authentic Heriz carpets are identified by their angular, bold geometric central medallions, rectilinear corner spandrels, sturdy weave, and natural colour variations across the wool pile.

Placing a geometric Heriz carpet in a contemporary setting grounds the room, introducing texture and warmth that contrasts effectively against minimal furniture and modern floor finishes.

Gentle vacuuming with a suction-only attachment prevents fiber wear, while using a non-slip underlay and rotating the rug periodically ensures even exposure and long-term preservation.
