Antique Georgian Mahogany Chest of Drawers

Description

An antique large Georgian mahogany chest of drawers, of particularly pleasing and practical proportions. Constructed in mahogany, the chest comprises four deep graduating drawers, each retaining its original brass handles and fitted within cockbeaded drawer surrounds. Raised on shaped bracket feet, the chest has a lovely depth of colour and well-developed aged patina throughout, with attractive figuring to the drawer fronts and sides. A useful and versatile chest offering generous storage, with its slightly deeper proportions giving it a particularly practical form.

CONDITION REPORT:

In good antique condition, commensurate with age and use. The mahogany has a lovely depth of colour and attractive aged patina. There is some fading to the sides and minor historic loss to the cockbeaded drawer edges, particularly noticeable to the lower right corner of the top drawer. There is also some light staining to the top, which does not detract from the overall appearance. There are various minor marks and signs of wear throughout, consistent with age and previous use. The drawers open and close correctly and the chest remains solid and structurally sound. Overall, a lovely Georgian chest with attractive colour and practical proportions.
