Art Deco Silver Mesh Purse

1900 - 1920
Description

A good example of a large Art Deco sterling silver purse. It has a silver frame with a chain link handle and the main body of the bag is finely linked chainmail with decorative ball finials. The frame is engraved "Mrs A. Walters, Uley Road, Dursley".

It is excellent quality and is clearly hallmarked for Chester, 1915 alongside import marks. It weighs approximately 162g.

It is in good condition for its age and the clasp is strong and secure. The mesh is in good order with no major damages or large holes. There are a couple of broken links here and there and one ball finial is missing but this hasn’t compromised the integrity of the purse and overall it displays very well. It has been cleaned and gently polished and is ready for use.
