​A magnificent and rare solid oak chest of drawers, originally crafted during the George III period (c. 1800) and expertly carved during the 19th-century Victorian revival movement. It was common practice among high-end Victorian craftsmen to adorn plain, earlier Georgian furniture with deep, intricate relief carving to suit the period's taste for Gothic and Green Man grotesque iconography.

Each drawer front features deeply sculpted foliate scrollwork centered around individual, hand-carved grotesque mask handles—each face uniquely detailed with startling character and bone/ivory-style inset eyes. The top surface displays an authentic hand-planed finish, showing the true age and rich grain of the antique oak, while side brass carrying handles attest to its immense weight and solid construction.
