Description

An antique Georgian oak chest of drawers, crafted from solid oak with a rich patina and attractive grain pattern. The chest features two short drawers above three long, various sizing drawers, each fitted with mahogany crossbanding, brass swan-neck handles, and escutcheon plates. The chest stands on bracket feet and has a simple, moulded top, offering both elegance and practicality. A functional and well-proportioned piece, ideal for any space.

CONDITION REPORT:

In good antique condition throughout, with signs of age and use. There is surface wear including age-related marks and scratches. Notable wear includes loss to the corners, splitting to the sides, back, and inside of one drawer. One handle has been replaced. The top shows areas of fading and staining. Despite these signs of wear, the piece remains solid and functional.

Our experienced carpenter thoroughly inspects, repairs, and restores each item in our collection to ensure it is fully prepared for use in your home.

Georgian country oak furniture is characterised by robust timber construction, functional proportions, and clean lines suited to provincial homes during the eighteenth century. Unlike urban mahogany pieces, country furniture utilised native hardwoods and retained simpler, classical forms.
