This Jacobean Revival chest of drawers from the 1920 period is fashioned from dark brown oak with a warm timber grain. The facade presents four horizontal drawers accented by geometric panel moulding, mitred moulding, and decorative brass drop ring handles, resting upon a solid plinth base with a raised gallery to the top. Dimensions measure 94.5 cm high, 77 cm wide, and 47.5 cm deep. Practical application suits everyday storage in a bedroom, placement in a hallway beneath a mirror, or deployment in a living room topped with a lamp and photographs. Adaptability extends to a guest room or study for versatile interior integration.

FAQs

Chests from this period frequently display geometric panel moulding, sturdy solid oak construction, and drop-ring handles, drawing inspiration from Jacobean and Edwardian cabinetmaking.

Authentic pieces feature solid European or English oak frames, hand-cut or machine-dovetailed drawer joints, solid wood backboards, and cast brass or iron hardware.

Authenticity is indicated by historical construction details such as dovetailed drawers, natural oxidation around brass fixings, authentic keyhole escutcheons, and quarter-sawn oak grain patterns.

Dark oak furniture provides structural contrast against neutral or modern walls, functioning as a grounding focal point while offering substantial practical storage in bedrooms or hallways.

Maintain the wood finish by regularly dusting with a soft microfibre cloth and applying natural beeswax polish periodically to protect the patina without causing finish build-up.
