Description

A stunning example of a mid-century modern cocktail shaker, totally original and untouched looking to have rarely or never been used, dating.

By rotating the outer cylinder or top collar, windows (each outlined in gold) line up to reveal the ingredients and proportions for classic cocktails (such as a Manhattan, Side Car, Tom Collins, or Whisky Sour) engraved on the inner sleeve.

This specific cocktail shaker was created by the Italian silver master and designer, Giuliano Bossi.

He designed it under the Ibis trademark in Milan, Italy. The earliest origins of Bossi's elegant "dial-a-drink" recipe layout date as far back as the 1930s Art Deco era, this one probably dating slightly later to c.1940/1950

Bossi was a renowned Italian silversmith based in Milan. He was famous for blending high-end, classic European silverwork with functional, interactive industrial designs.

While designed under his Ibis brand, production of his barware lines was often handled in collaboration with prominent Italian silver manufacturers of the era, such as El de Uberti.

Bossi’s design was so successful that the mechanism was widely emulated by other international luxury barware brands throughout the 20th century.
