Extraordinary late 19th Century portrait of a stunning cat and its prey. Naive school oil on canvas.

The painting has had many repairs and retouches over the years, and there are signs that it was even cut down and re stretched. But despite all the scars, it remains a mesmerising painting and if you love cats and their attitude imbued personalities, this one is definitely for you.

The background is also a bit mad, reflecting the chaos that went on during the catch, it has yellow flowers, possibly primroses, scattered around the place, amidst a veritable palette of background retouching colours!
