Archival Detail
Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Arts and Crafts lighting, pioneered by designers such as W.A.S. Benson in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, emphasises functional form, exposed mechanical elements, and honest craftsmanship over ornate revivalist decoration.

W.A.S. Benson lighting typically incorporates spun, cast, or extruded brass and copper, often utilising mechanical joints, tripod bases, and wingnuts to allow smooth articulation and adjustability.

Authentic pieces often feature distinct design signatures such as delicate tripod feet, keyhole wall-mounting slots, signature ball-and-socket joints, and occasionally a stamped makers mark on the base or switch mechanism.

Position a pair of articulated brass lamps on a timber desk, sideboard, or bedside tables to add warm metallic tones and functional task illumination that complements both modern minimalism and traditional schemes.

Dust regularly with a dry, soft cloth, and avoid aggressive chemical polishes that strip original patination; ensure all electrical components are inspected and rewired by a certified electrician prior to use.
