Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Edwardian jewellery, produced between 1901 and 1915, is defined by delicate garland motifs, lace-like openwork, and the prominent use of platinum and diamonds. The style emphasizes lightness, fluid symmetry, and intricate metalwork details.

Craftsmen of the era primarily utilised platinum, frequently backed with yellow gold, to craft lightweight yet durable mounts. These settings were paired with old European cut or old mine cut diamonds and detailed with fine millegrain borders.

Authentic pieces feature hand-cut diamonds with distinct culets, minute beaded millegrain work around bezel edges, and fine filigree settings. Examining the metal hallmarks and hand-fabricated findings helps confirm period authenticity.

An antique diamond pendant can serve as an elegant focal piece for formal wear or be layered with simple modern chain necklaces for daywear. For off-body presentation, velvet-lined display stands or glazed vitrines keep the item secure while visible.

Soak the piece in warm water with a small amount of mild liquid detergent and clean gently behind the settings using a soft-bristled brush. Store the pendant separately in a soft pouch or fabric-lined box to prevent surface friction.
