Description

A superior quality late Victorian golden oak pedestal desk with original brass fittings by highly regarded maker and retailers Maples of London c.1890. The top with a high quality tooled dark red leather writing surface, which has a moulded edge oak surround. Three drawers sat directly below the writing surface plus each pedestal with three graduated drawers with reeded decoration running to each side of the drawers. All drawers with deep moulded edges giving a panelled effect, mahogany linings and original decorative cast brass fittings. Figured polished timbers to the desk sides and back to allow for free standing. The centre drawer stamped 'Maple & Co, London'; highly regarded high quality cabinet makers and retailers. Apron foot with moulded upper edge and small concealed castors set behind to aid moving. Presented in excellent condition with a rich colour and deep shine.
