School House Antiques has dated these Antique Oak Chest Drawers to the 17th Century.
All timbers are original, including the top and the back boards, which remain in their honest, unrestored state. The façade is arranged with two short drawers over three long drawers, each front boldly moulded with geometric raised panels typical of the period.

The original brass handles are particularly attractive — decorative drop handles with shaped backplates — and are matched by the corresponding keyhole escutcheons. The drawers run well and the chest stands on its original bracket feet with a continuous base moulding.

A lovely, unmolested example that has not been “improved” or over-restored — simply an honest survivor with excellent colour, original fittings and strong architectural presence.
