Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Georgian oak chest of drawers presents a dark brown timber finish with a pleasant patina and shows some old repairs. The rectangular piece features three long graduated rows of drawers divided by vertical bobbin-moulded pillars, fitted with geometric moulded panels and small brass teardrop pulls, and is elevated on bracket feet. The chest measures 84 cm high, 94 cm wide, and 66 cm deep. Positioned against a living room, hallway or bedroom wall, this storage furniture item functions as a practical surface for lamps, books or ornaments while providing enclosed drawer space for linens, clothing or everyday accessories. The compact proportions suit period country house interiors as well as modern traditional room schemes.

FAQs

Georgian oak chests of drawers typically feature sturdy solid wood construction, balanced proportions, hand-cut dovetail drawer joints, and detailed moulding or panelling along the drawer fronts.

These items were predominantly crafted from English oak, featuring solid pine or oak drawer linings, hand-forged iron or brass hardware, and joinery techniques such as mortise and tenon frames with pegging.

Authentic pieces exhibit uneven hand-sawn wood marks on back panels, hand-cut dovetail joints of irregular size, natural wear around handles, and aged patination on iron or brass fittings.

A dark oak chest provides visual weight and historical depth when contrasted against neutral walls, contemporary art, modern lighting fixtures, or minimal ceramic decorative accents.

Maintain the timber by dusting regularly with a soft cloth and applying beeswax polish once or twice a year, keeping the item away from direct heat sources and damp environments.
