Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Afghan village carpets originate from regional weaving traditions across Afghanistan and neighbouring Central Asian territories. Typically woven by nomadic tribes such as the Ersari, these rugs were created for household use and trade, characterised by rich red tones and geometric emblem patterns.

Traditional Afghan rugs are hand-knotted using locally sourced hand-spun wool for the pile, often built upon a wool or cotton warp and weft foundation. Dyes were historically derived from natural plant and mineral sources, giving the wool its deep crimson and indigo shades.

Authentic early 20th-century Afghan carpets display slight weave irregularities and organic colour variations, known as abrash, resulting from hand-dyed wool batches. The reverse side clearly reveals hand-tied knots and soft, flexible structural edges rather than rigid machine backing.

A warm red tribal carpet anchors a contemporary room by providing visual warmth and a bold geometric foundation. Pair it with neutral upholstered seating, natural wood furniture, or modern leather pieces to create a balanced contrast between antique craftsmanship and modern lines.

Vacuum regularly using suction only without a rotating brush to prevent pile damage. Address spills immediately by blotting with a clean, dry cloth, and rotate the carpet periodically to ensure even wear and light exposure.
