A rare pair of Spode Stone China octagonal cabinet plates, finely painted in brightly coloured enamels with an elaborate Chinese Chinoiserie landscape. The central reserves depict a series of animated narrative scenes incorporating elegant figures within an idealised setting, including a gentleman preparing to fly a hawk accompanied by children, a lady and child beside a temple or pavilion, figures amongst rocky, tree-lined landscapes, a lady observing from a window, and domestic fowl in the foreground.
