ABOUT
Itô Kunio (????, 1890–1970) was a Japanese sculptor born in Iwate Prefecture, renowned for his bronze horse sculptures. He devoted much of his work to capturing equine movement and anatomy with realism and dynamism.
Among his notable works is Rush of a Gun Carriage (1940), a dramati...c bronze piece depicting horses pulling a gun carriage — now held by The National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo.
He exhibited regularly at major national art exhibitions, developing a reputation for finely detailed, lifelike bronze animals.
