Jeff Sims Antiques has dated this piece to the 1900s.
On one side the cartouche is vacant and on the other the initials M G are engraved. There is an eraser (replaceable) to the top asnd the brush at the base. The bristles are horsehair and this fine collectible item has a practical use.

These were used for erasing mistakes and brushing the rubber remnants from the paper. The Maker's are a renowned Company, working in Rhode Isalnd, USA and had a reputation for high quality items. Dimensions below.
