Rare Antique Ersari Turkmen (Kapunuk) Tent Door Rug. 150cm X 107cm.

Description

When I first came across this curious smaller rug I thought, I was a bit intrigued by the very thin guard stripes which alerted me to the fact that it may have been made for a particular purpose other than just a rug.

Further research I have done and believe it to be a tent door panel as opposed to a kapunuk-the surround of a door.

I found a very similar one in a publication and the h-design in the guls. Last images.

Would look great hung on a wall as a display piece. Interesting ethnographic piece of art. Not priced at outrageous money either.

All over low pile,couple of tiny holes. One edge had what looks like a crease kink repair,all imaged front and back. Very tight rebound side cords and ends secured.

Size is 4 foot 11 inches by 3 foot 6 inches. 150cm X 107cm. At widest points. All wool construction.
