Sandbanks Antiques has dated this piece to the 1920s.
Manufactured by the highly prestigious silversmiths Walker & Hall, this piece beautifully captures the design transition of the early 1920s, leaning into the clean, architectural lines of the early Art Deco movement. It features a strikingly modern, geometric D-shaped handle and is grounded by a crisp, machine-turned concentric reeded base. Crucially, the polished body is entirely unmonogrammed, remaining completely free from any personalized contemporary or subsequent presentation engravings.

Markings & Provenance
The upper body features an exceptionally crisp, deep, and well-struck set of hallmarks detailing the maker's mark (W&H), the Sheffield crown, the sterling lion passant, and the lowercase f date letter for 1923. The underside of the base retains its pristine, flat condition and is deeply stamped with the Walker & Hall chevron/pennant flag trade mark alongside the original factory design/inventory PINT numbers 53487 and 109.

This piece boasts prestigious auction provenance, having been acquired as Lot 563 from Bonhams.
Weight, Presence & Condition
Weighing a massive 431 grams, this tankard was produced to a premium luxury standard, boasting a significantly thicker gauge and a more substantial, balanced presence in the hand than standard interwar silver. It stands at a commanding 14cm in height with a full 1-pint capacity. It is in excellent, clean condition throughout with no thinning, major dings, or heavy scratching.
