This very high quality silver jewel dates to circa 1950. It is continental in its manufacture, most likely Italian.
The large central polished green stone is a wonderful cabochon of malachite with intricate natural graining.
This impressive stone is set into a fine quality heavy silver mount with a raised flower head at the top and bottom, with shaped petals enhanced with green enamel. Trailing from the lower flower is a stem set with three different coloured gems and terminating with an intricately engraved silver leaf.
The reverse of this stunning piece of jewellery is almost as impressive as the front, with a cast and engraved stem with a central flower and leaves.
At the top of the reverse of the pendant is a substantial shaped loop for hanging and displaying on a chain. The loop is marked 925 silver and has an indistinct maker''s mark.
The pendant comes with its original chain, which has two flower heads decorated with black enamel, which would display on the wearer
...''s neck.
The chain is fitted with a spring loaded clasp for fastening, which works well.
