Gilt and Gesso has dated these Wrought Iron Fire Dogs to the 19th Century.
A very fine pair of substantial andirons, the 86cm tall fire dogs topped with cresset top cups and forged standards, with ornate scrollwork and spit-hooks, standing upon 77cm square section billet-bars.
A magnificent pair of hand forged, perhaps estate made wrought iron antique fire dogs of considerable scale and exceptional skilled forging, estimated conservative date circa mid to late 19th century, quite possibly earlier.
