The term ''Ahmadi'' refers to one of the elite carpet weaving workshops in Isfahan around 1900 -1920. Ahmadi rugs can be recognised by their fine grainy wool and the colours, in particular a crimson red. This masterpiece of a rug certainly fits the bill, and does great credit to the Ahmadi reputation. Fine wool and a high khot count have been combined to create a tactile and luxurious texture. Moreover, the design is sensational, conceived in the design workshops and executed to perfection. A wonderful flowering tree on an ivory field dominates the composition. Perched among the branches are various birds while a pair of rabbits at the base of the field look up towards their avian friends. Two smaller trees with more birds decorate the rest of the field. Framing the field are floral borders drawn on the ubiquitous crimson red background with elegant corner solutions.
