Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

French Art Nouveau bronze sculpture, created predominantly between the late 19th and early 20th centuries, is characterised by sinuous, flowing lines, organic contours, and expressive portraiture influenced by classical, mythological, and naturalistic themes.

These sculptures were generally cast using either the lost-wax (cire perdue) or sand-casting method, after which artisans refined the surface details by hand-chasing and applied chemical patinas to achieve specific colour variations.

Authentic works by Emmanuel Villanis typically feature crisp foundry stamps, an incised signature along the shoulder or base, deep relief lettering for the title at the front base, and precise rendering of hair and drapery.

A bronze bust serves as a sculptural accent when placed on a stone mantelpiece, a dark wood sideboard, or integrated into a curated bookshelf display to contrast with modern, minimalist backdrops.

Maintain patinated bronze by dusting regularly with a soft, dry microfibre cloth or camel-hair brush, keeping it free from moisture and chemical cleaners, and applying a thin coat of clear microcrystalline wax annually.
