A Victorian Heart Shaped Tortoiseshell And Silver Mounted Pendant

A lovely tortoiseshell and silver mounted heart shaped pendant on a silver chain. Mid 19th Century.
 
Mounted with cast and engraved silver decoration and with a hinged catch to the top. The pendant has a mottled brown and black hue contrasting with the silver mounts which are engraved with scroll and flower head motifs. The chain, of the same period as the pendant, is of an unusual engraved bar and link design and of a good heavy gauge. The pendant measures 4cm (1½'') across and the chain has a total length of 96cm (37½'').
