A Very Unusual Pair of Victorian Silver Plated Hunting Beakers with Relief Band of Game Birds.

Description

Very unusual and handsome pair of Victorian large hunting beakers made in silver plate in a tapering cylindrical form, with an applied naturalistic band decorated in relief with well modelled ducks and grouse amongst reeds, and standing on a stepped foot.

The beakers are the same except one has an engraved family crest within one cartouche, and ornate initials in the other, while the other beaker has two vacant cartouches.

The interior are lightly gilded.

These interesting beakers are heavy and generous in size.

Size-3.25 inches diameter by 4.75 inches high.

Weight-635 grams total for both.

One beaker has some rub marks to the body as shown, and there is a minute bit of copper showing to a couple of high spots on the relief birds.

A very nice pair in very good condition overall, which would be a nice gift for a collector, or the hunting aficionado.
