Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Coalport Porcelain, established in Shropshire in the late eighteenth century, became renowned in the late nineteenth century for detailed hand-painted topographical landscapes and heavy gilding. Cabinet plates from this era were produced primarily for decorative display, demonstrating advanced ceramic craftsmanship.

These decorative plates were made from translucent fine bone china, featuring hand-painted enamel scenes surrounded by cobalt blue grounds and raised gold gilding. The gilding process involved burnishing gold leaf onto fired glaze to produce a textured metallic effect.

Authentic pieces typically feature printed or impressed Coalport maker marks on the reverse, often accompanied by painted pattern numbers. Examining the fine weight of the bone china, hand-applied brushwork in the central medallion, and the depth of the gilding helps confirm authenticity.

A decorative cabinet plate can be displayed upright on a dark wood plate stand within a glazed cabinet or mounted as part of a wall gallery. Positioning the item on a mantelpiece or console table provides historic detail and vibrant colour contrast.

Clean gilded porcelain using a soft, dry microfibre cloth or a fine brush to remove surface dust. Chemical cleansers, abrasive materials, and immersion in water should be avoided to prevent wear to the delicate gold leaf and overglaze enamel.
