Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Multiple reeded pewter plates feature a series of moulded, concentric decorative ridges along the rim, a stylistic hallmark prominent in late 17th-century English metalware during the Stuart and Restoration periods.

Early pewter plates were cast in heavy brass or copper alloy moulds using a tin-based alloy mixed with small amounts of lead or copper, before being hand-turned and finished on a lathe to refine the rim and surface contours.

Authentic pieces usually display touched marks or hallmarks on the rim or reverse, evidence of hand-lathe turning, ownership initials stamped in a triangular triad format, and age-consistent surface oxidisation or pitting.

Antique pewter plates function well when mounted on dark wood dresser shelves, arranged in wall plate groupings, or placed on a sideboard top as decorative trays to add texture and muted metallic tones.

Avoid aggressive metal polishes or chemicals that strip historical patina; gently dust with a soft cloth and, if necessary, wash with lukewarm water and mild soap before drying thoroughly.
