Dragoncharger Antiques has dated this Japanese Cloisonne Enamel Tray to the 1880s.
High-quality cloisonné with skilled brass wire work and multi- coloured enamels. Body is decorated with spectacular and complex geometric patterns formed into over-lapping mosaics. Centre decorated with a bird sitting on a branch, with the tree bearing numerous fruit berries.
The dark green enamel is unique to this era.The reverse similarly profusely decorated with geometric shapes Suberb quality.
Condition: Excellent and original condition. One small enamel loss to top mosaic, and enamel loss to rear corner edge (see photos).
