Description

A beautiful silver plated oil lamp dating from the early 20th Century. It has a squat round body and its original burner on top. It also comes with its original glass Sphinx Fireproof Chimney. The bottom of the base is stamped with the makers name "Mappin & Webb's Princes Plate. London & Sheffield. W9611".

The lamp is in good condition for its age. There are some areas where the silver plating has rubbed and worn but the base has been gently cleaned and polished and displays well. The oil lamp is untested and I have not had it burning with paraffin in however it appears to be in good order and I see no reason why it should not work as designed. The glass chimney is in excellent condition with just a few small nibbles around the rim.
