Antique Silver Gilt Pill/snuff Box with Mother of Pearl - 19th C.

We are delighted to be able to offer this splendid solid silver gilt mother of pearl pill/snuff box, Germany late 19th century.

This pill box features a wonderfully ornate Rococo-style design with its exterior being fully silver gilt (gold layer on top of solid silver) and presents a lovely mother of pearl panel on top.

The pierced scroll work on top complements the mother of pearl beautifully, allowing for contrasting colours and reflections of the surface to shine.

The external sides feature an acanthus scrolled motif embossed decoration in combination with floral designs. Interior-wise, the box is further plated in a rich, glossy gold texture - each occasion on opening the lid presents a remarkable sense of indulgence.

Due to its versatile size, in the modern day, it may also be used practically for storing pills, mints or small items, in a distinguished and stylish manner, bound to be a conversation starter for the keen-eyed.

Condition

Good Condition - The box is in good antique condition with no major damage or issues. Some slight surface wear, tarnishing around the edges and some texture wear on the base. Very minor gilding fading but overall remains a wonderful, rich antique gold colour.
