Antique European 800 Silver ‘Devil’ Mustard Pot with Blue Glass Liner – Novelty Figural Silver – 19th Century

A fine and unusual 19th-century European silver mustard pot, beautifully modelled and supported by four figural devil legs, giving the piece a striking and highly decorative appearance.

This substantial antique condiment pot is of generous proportions and retains its original blue glass liner, which contrasts wonderfully with the silver. The pot also comes with a spoon (later addition).

The silver is marked with three hallmarks, one clearly reading “800”, indicating 800 standard continental silver, widely used in 19th-century European silverware. The remaining marks are present but difficult to decipher.

The piece is particularly appealing due to its novelty figural design, with the devil-form supports adding both character and collectability. Items of this nature are highly sought after by collectors of novelty silver, antique tableware, and unusual Victorian silver pieces.

A substantial and decorative example, likely dating to the early–mid 19th century, and complete with what appears to be its original presentation box.

Condition

Very good antique condition with attractive age-related patina. The original blue glass liner is intact, and the silver retains crisp detail. Please refer to photographs for confirmation.
