Huge 854g French Sterling Silver Cockerel Rooster Chicken Bird C1920 Antique

Description

A rare huge superbly modelled French sterling silver desk or table bird figure. It is hallmarked with the French 950 Minerva Head along with a makers mark, I would date it to c1920s. It has been beautifully modelled in the form of a rooster. It is in super condition being free from dings splits and repairs. Some tail feathers are a little bent and one leg has a partial crack where the hallmark has been struck but it is still strong - see photo. It measures approx. 10.25 inches (26cm) long beak to tail by 7.5 inches (19cm) wide by 8 inches (20.2cm) tall to the top of its tail feathers and weighs 854 grams (all silver not filled or weighted). A very well designed high quality example.
