Fine Victorian 15ct Gold Pearl Drop Earrings|circa 1870

These impressive Victorian pearl drop earrings date to circa 1870 and are crafted in rich 15ct gold

The design reflects the romantic symbolism so favoured during the period. Each circular disc is centred with a delicate engraved star motif, set with a 3mm split pearl at its heart — a classic Victorian representation of light and guidance. Surrounding the central disc is a decorative rope twist border, finished with small applied gold bead detailing around the outer edge, giving the earrings pleasing depth and texture.

Suspended above each disc is a 5mm pearl set to the shepherd’s hook fitting, providing elegant movement when worn.

At 4cm in length and 22mm wide, these earrings are notably generous in scale for the era, giving them wonderful presence while remaining refined. The pair weighs 8 grams and sit beautifully when worn.

They are in excellent condition overall. The reverse shows a few small dints commensurate with age, visible in the last two photographs and mentioned for complete accuracy. Such marks are entirely typical of hollow-backed Victorian construction.

A handsome and authentic pair of mid-Victorian earrings — increasingly difficult to find in this size and condition.
