This Georgian style pedestal desk dates from 1880 and is made from warm brown mahogany. The rectangular writing surface incorporates a green tooled leather insert within a wooden border, offering a practical workspace for a study or home office. The furniture stands upon twin plinth bases and has a kneehole opening between the two banks of drawers. Arranged in a nine-drawer configuration, the desk includes four drawers on each pedestal and one central drawer above the kneehole. Every drawer displays raised rectangular moulding frames around the front panels and is fitted with a polished brass swan-neck swing handle mounted on a central backplate. The timber shows rich grain patterns throughout the front elevation and top surface.
