1920 - 1940
For Sale by AC Silver
Description

A stunning, fine and impressive vintage 1.48 carat opal and 3.03 carat diamond, platinum ring; part of our opal jewellery collection.

This stunning, fine and impressive vintage opal and diamond ring has been crafted in platinum.

The pierced decorated, lobed edged cluster design displays a feature 1.48ct cabochon cut opal, claw set in subtle relief to the centre.

The opal is framed by nineteen modern brilliant round cut diamonds, all individually four-claw set and emanating to one shoulder.

The asymmetrical setting is further ornamented with channel set diamonds, in a combination of baguette and tapering baguette cuts, completing the design.

The pierced decorated, elevated and tapering ring shoulders integrate with the main setting and blend seamlessly with the plain ring shank.

This stunning ring has been independently tested using state of the art technology (Niton XL2 Analyzer) and verified as platinum.

This vintage opal cocktail ring is supplied with an IDGL diamond and gemstone grading report card.

This opal and baguette diamond ring in platinum combines the luminous beauty of opal with the clean structure of baguette diamonds, creating a refined design ideal for anniversaries, milestone birthdays and meaningful gifts.

Images do not always reflect the true colour and brilliance of gemstones and diamonds. The video however provides a truer representation of the actual colour and showcases each stone.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Jewellery during the mid-1940s Retro era favoured sculptural curves, architectural motifs, and prominent gemstone pairings, transitioning from strict geometric Art Deco styles into fluid, asymmetrical forms.

Cocktail rings of this era frequently incorporated platinum or high-karat gold set with natural gemstones such as opals, rubies, and diamonds arranged in contrast-rich patterns.

Authentic pieces from this period typically feature hand-set baguette and round accent diamonds, period-correct platinum alloy purity marks, and custom-fitted undergalleries.

A substantial statement ring serves as a singular focal point when worn on the index or middle finger, paired alongside tailored modern tailoring or neutral evening wear.

Opals require protection from extreme heat, sudden temperature shifts, and chemical exposure to prevent crazing, while platinum mountings may be cleaned using a soft cloth and warm water.
