Shackladys Antiques has dated this piece to the 1910s.
The seat rail is enriched with a repeating leaf-and-reed frieze and square corner blocks carved with rosettes, reinforcing the disciplined neoclassical character of the design.

The open caned panels lend lightness and transparency to the form while maintaining structural integrity. The stool stands on slender, fluted and tapering legs terminating in turned feet.
The removable loose cushion is upholstered in a gold and ivory striped textile, button-tufted and piped, harmonising with the warm tone of the gilded surface. The gilding shows minor wear and tonal variation consistent with age, contributing to an attractive patina. The cane work remains intact and stable, and the frame is structurally sound.
