Shackladys Antiques has dated this Upholstered Brass Club Fender to the 1910s.

The design comprises two opposing L-shaped seats, deeply padded and finished with traditional button tufting. The seats are upholstered in dark leather, lending a rich, understated character while offering durability suited to hearth-side use. The leather’s softly worn surface enhances the historical character of the piece, complementing the warm tones of the brass structure.

The frame is constructed in brass, raised on a series of slender, turned uprights set into solid rectangular bases. A continuous arched brass rail spans between the two seating elements, a defining feature of the club fender form, originally serving both as a visual boundary to the fireplace and a unifying structural element. The restrained curvature introduces a sense of movement while maintaining classical symmetry.
