Dutch Delftware originated in the city of Delft in the Netherlands during the 16th century, emerging as a European tin-glazed earthenware imitation of imported Chinese porcelain.

Delft pottery is traditionally crafted from local buff or red earthenware clays, coated in an opaque white tin-glaze, and hand-painted with metallic oxide pigments before being fired.

Authenticity is identified through characteristics such as crazing in the glaze, minor rim chips revealing the porous earthenware body, hand-painted brushwork inconsistencies, and historical maker marks.

Antique ceramic chargers can be mounted on walls as focal art pieces or displayed upright on plate stands within shelving units to add historical contrast to contemporary spaces.

Antique earthenware plates should be kept away from direct sunlight, hand-cleaned gently with a dry or barely damp microfiber cloth without harsh detergents, and protected from moisture fluctuations.
