Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Sconces from around 1900 typically feature cast or stamped brass construction with multiple branches extending from a central backplate. Designed during the transition between candle, gas, and early electric lighting, these fixtures often feature ornate scrollwork, leaf drip pans, and vertical structural rods.

Fixtures from this period were primarily made from cast brass or bronze, often finished with a dark patination or lacquer. Components such as arms, nozzles, and drip pans were cast separately and assembled using threaded rods or pins.

Authentic period wall lights display signs of age such as natural surface oxidisation, minor casting irregularities, and original thread patterns on fixings. Modern reproductions tend to have lighter overall weight, uniform machine finishes, and contemporary wiring channels.

Pairing patinated brass sconces against dark, moody paint colours or textured plaster creates a sophisticated contrast. Mounting them on either side of a fireplace, artwork, or mirror provides balanced accent lighting.

Dust regularly with a dry, soft cloth or gentle soft-bristled brush to clean intricate metalwork. Avoid aggressive chemical polishers, as these remove the aged patina that protects and defines period brasswork.
