Description

A fine quality late 19th Century French Kingwood marquetry inlaid Cylinder bureau. Having the three quarter brass gallery to the top, parquetry inlay to the whole with an inset oval panel with flowers and musical instrument inlaid. Gilded ormolu mounts and plaques depicting frolicking cherubs to the three drawer fronts and sides. Raised on elegant square tapering, circa 1880.

This late nineteenth-century French cylinder desk stands in the Louis XIV Revival style, created from warm brown kingwood and rosewood with contrasting parquetry lattice work. The surface displays a cylindrical roll top inset with an oval floral marquetry medallion, a three-quarter pierced brass gallery along the upper tier, and gilded ormolu mounts alongside decorative plaques showing figures on the sides and drawers. The structure is supported by slender square tapering legs finished with gilt sabots, and includes multiple integrated storage compartments. Measuring 106 cm high, 113 cm wide and 64 cm deep, it provides a functional writing station for a study, home office, or elegant reception room.
